Hello everyone and welcome back to my Artist of the Week series, I apologize for the delay, I’ve been busy with work and moving but I finally got everything settled and we’re back consistent with this series.
This week’s guest is someone who’s been long deserving of being on this series, Q-Flo is a beast, I had the privilege of seeing him perform as part of the fifth annual Holy Smoke! Cypher at Holy Smoke! this year.
Hailing from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Q is a proud representative of his city, always repping his city wherever he goes, having started rapping in 2008, Q-Flo started quickly climbing the ranks of gritty CHH becoming a leading force in the scene.
Gritty CHH is a Christian alternative to gritty hip hop which is a subgenre of hip hop, with its raw and unpolished sound, Q-Flo takes this sound and puts his own spin on it, with hard hitting beats, realistic Christ centered lyrics and a unique flow.
Q-Flo placed second in the Holy Smoke! 2025 cypher, later gaining the chance to perform on Sway in the Morning part of the first ever God Always Christian Hip Hop Cypher hosted by DJ Mykael V, Q-Flo along with five other CHH artists all chosen by Mykael got to freestyle live on the radio on Sway in the Morning, helping bring Christ to an even bigger level and in front of an even bigger audience all while staying true to the art of hip hop.
Q-Flo not only made history as one of six artists on the first ever Christian Hip Hop cypher on Sway in the Morning, he also made history as the first gritty CHH artist to freestyle live on Sway in the Morning.
With a total of two albums, one EP and forty six singles, Q-Flo shows no signs of slowing down, having been named as a 2022 Rapzilla Freshman, Q has been steadily grinding, proving he’s here to stay.
Paving his own way in the space and with a combined total of over 500k streams on Spotify alone, Q-Flo proves he’s a force to be reckoned with, proving he can hold his own amongst the best, Flo is an artist you don’t want to sleep on.
