Hello everyone and welcome to the latest installment in my Artist of the Week series, this week’s guest is someone I had the privilege of meeting at Holy Smoke!, this year.
Yung Drew is an upcoming Christian Hip Hop artist hailing from Jacksonville, Florida, having first gotten his start in music around 2019, it wasn’t until 2022 that he started releasing music consistently, releasing a total of seven singles.
2023 saw a shift for Yung Drew as he dropped two albums and a total of six singles, HomeTown Heroes, which is a collab project between Yung Drew and his good friend who’s also an artist Gavin the Hotrod, as well as another collab project with artists he was friends with entitled Drewski and Friends.
Drew credits Gavin the Hotrod for challenging him with a new writing style that he said helped him become more comfortable with how he articulated his words, with his rhyme schemes becoming more intense. 0
It wasn’t until 2024 that Drew released his debut album entitled Draft Day, dropping a total of 12 singles as well, fast forward to this year 2025 and we see Drew release two new albums, The Art Of Letting Go and All 4 Nuthin, Drew also went on to perform at Holy Smoke! 2025 as part of the cypher lineup, having also met Hip Hop radio legend Sway Calloway of the radio show Sway in the Morning who was a guest judge for the cypher.
Yung Drew is currently working on an EP with his good friend and previously featured artist of the week Peair as well as some other stuff, it’s clear that Drew has a lot more in store for music and shows no signs of slowing down.
Having worked with artists such as Marty, Miles Minnick, Kijan Boone, Kaleb Mitchell, Jered Sanders and MvkeyyJ as well as an upcoming single with Scootie Wop, Yung Drew proves he can hold his own amongst the best.
If he’s not busy with music you can find Drew working as a Vet Tech at his local animal hospital which is something he loves doing, with 13.5k monthly listeners and a combined total of over 175k streams on Spotify alone it’s clear to see that Yung Drew is making quite the name for himself while staying true to who he is.
With a unique flow, Christ centered lyrics, catchy beats and a steady consistency in making and releasing music, having been made a Rapzilla Freshman of 2025, Drew is an artist you don’t want to keep sleeping on, with plenty more in store for this year and the future.
