Hello everyone and welcome to the twentieth installment in my Artist of the Week series.
This week we have the one and only Apex Frazier, Apex is someone I’ve had the pleasure of getting to know over the past few years and I couldn’t be more thrilled to have him on this series.
Caleb “Apex” Frazier is a Christian artist hailing out of Canada, having being diagnosed with Muscular Dystrophy at a young age he was told he wouldn’t be able to walk or do but through strong determination and his faith in God he was able to prove them wrong by walking, playing basketball and taking up rapping.
Never one to shy away from telling his story Apex has chosen to make his weaknesses his strengths by incorporating his struggles with this disease and with pain into his music, having first started releasing music in 2016 it was clear from the start that Apex had quite a story to tell and that he was here to stay.
Having released his debut project Anxiety EP in 2018 it was on this release that Apex started to get more personal with his music, interweaving his faith with his life story, we got six tracks that offered us a glimpse into his personal life, unveiling and walking the listener through tough personal topics.
Then in 2019 Apex took his love for Star Wars and released a EP inspired by it, entitled Revenge Of The Sith (Lite) followed by another Star Wars themed song called “Half The Ship”.
In 2021 Apex saw success with the release of his debut album Missions & Convictions, taking inspiration from artists such as Jon Bellion Apex crafted his most personal work, with topics ranging from his faith to his struggles with Muscular Dystrophy, Missions & Convictions helped catapult him into a bigger spotlight.
After the release of M&C Apex released an EP entitled Hoodie Raps Season 1 to finish off 2021 before kicking off 2022 with the release of “Godfidence” which remains one of his top most streamed songs to this date.
He released two more singles in 2022 before releasing another EP entitled The Loved One, which saw Apex take on a new direction with his sound, after that he released another EP entitled Hoodie Raps Season 2, which was a sequel to his EP from 2021. Apex finished off 2022 with three more singles before kicking off 2023 with the release of his single “Five Figure Suit”, he released six more singles before finishing off 2023 with the release of his three song EP The Back Room.
Apex kicked off this year with the release of his single “NEW BALANCE” before releasing the first installment in his EP series entitled APEX I: WELCOME TO THE WORLD, the second installment in the series APEX II: DAVID is set to release this Friday, with plenty more up his sleeve for 2024, Apex Frazier is without a doubt an artist you don’t want to miss out on.
Combining his love for basketball, star wars and music together with his faith for a sound that’s sure to catch your attention, with his unique sound and personal lyrics Apex is an artist you want to find out before he blows up.
As always my goal through this series is that you would find dope new and underrated Christian artists to add to your playlists, if you’re rocking with Apex make sure to drop him a follow here and make sure to check out this playlist that’s updated every week with songs from each of the featured artists.
Until next time, God bless you and have an amazing week.
