Hello everyone and welcome to the thirteenth installment in my Artist of the Week series, this week we have an upcoming Christian artist by the name of Shayyn!.
Shayyn! is a young Christian artist hailing from New York, he first started his journey into the CHH scene in 2021 under the name of Prayboi Carti. Drawing heavy inspiration from the mainstream artist Playboi Carti, Shayyn wanted to make Christian music in that style, so fans of that sound could have a Christian alternative to listen to rather than the mainstream.
Putting his own spin on Carti’s music Shayyn started releasing Christian remixes of Carti’s most popular songs resulting in the release of his debut album in 2021 entitled Whole Lotta Repentance, after releasing music under the moniker Prayboi Carti, he rebranded in February 2023 to the name Shayyn!
With this rebrand Shayyn! wanted to prove himself as an artist set apart from his Christian Playboi Carti remixes, choosing instead to focus more on releasing his original music not inspired by a mainstream counterpart. Doing only a few more Christian Carti remixes, Shayyn! has distanced himself from remixes and has chosen to release his own music moving forward.
Drawing inspiration from artists ranging from Playboi Carti, Ken Carson, Lucki and SoFaygo; Shayyn! blends those inspirations together paired with his own sound to bring a fresh and unique sound to the CHH scene.
Amassing over 100k streams on Spotify alone, Shayyn! is proving himself a force to be reckoned with while also paving a new way for new upcoming artists to collect their inspirations and bring together a new, fresh and unique sound to the scene.
Shayyn! is an artist that deserves your attention, with his catchy beats, unique sound and flow as well as strong Christ centered lyrics, he’s an artist you don’t wanna miss out on.
