Artist of the week spotlight: J J L
Hello everyone and welcome to the fourth installment in BenRodz’s Artist of the Week, today I chose an artist I’ve had the pleasure of getting to know over the past couple of years.
JJL is a Christian artist hailing out of Minnesota, bringing a unique combination of sounds to CHH with his Mexican roots, love of God and love of Anime, J J L stands out as an exceptional artist.
He mixes, produces and engineers his own music as well as others, he’s also a curator for CHH media outlet Fazbreak .
Through his role at Fazbreak J J L has had the opportunity to interview and interact with fellow CHH artists and collectives such as, indie tribe., Jon Keith, newcomer Cousin Rickie, Torey D’Shaun and HEAVENONEARTH.
J J L has also established strong friendships through both his music and his role with Fazbreak, among these friendships he’s even collaborated with some of them including SiahThyLegend, Noexcuse, as well as good friend and frequent collaborator Cole Tindall with whom he has an ep and four singles with.
J J L is a force to be reckoned with in the space with his use of both Spanish and English lyrics, his connections, friendships and his extensive knowledge and experience with mixing, producing and engineering.
J J L first started putting music out in 2019 with his debut single “Invincible” and his newest single from 2023 entitled “NEVE CAMPBELL” which is named after the actress Neve Campbell who portrayed the character Sidney Prescott in the original horror film franchise Scream.
J J L’s break came in 2020 when he released “Anime & Ramen”, amassing over 600k streams on Spotify alone, J J L proved he was here to stay, he released his debut album Exit 44 in 2021.
J J L shows no signs of slowing down with his most popular songs being the aforementioned “Anime & Ramen”, “NEVE CAMPBELL” as well as his features on Cole Tindall’s songs “green miles”, “nightstand” and his feature on fellow CHH artist and ¼ Fazbreak owner MASO‘s 2022 single “Tom Brady!”.
