“Don’t forget that you Gentiles used to be outsiders. You were called “uncircumcised heathens” by the Jews, who were proud of their circumcision, even though it affected only their bodies and not their hearts. In those days you were living apart from Christ. You were excluded from citizenship among the people of Israel, and you did not know the covenant promises God had made to them. You lived in this world without God and without hope. But now you have been united with Christ Jesus. Once you were far away from God, but now you have been brought near to him through the blood of Christ.”

So the church and the entertainment world is a buzz with the recent conversion and gospel release “Jesus Is King” by Kanye West. This world renown artist who has went as far as saying that he is a god is now preaching Jesus and releases a gospel hip hop album. What a sudden turn of events. As the old song says, “time is filled with swift transition.”
I know there’s a lot of speculation from the Christian community questioning if Kanye’s conversion is genuine. Rightfully so. He’s made a lot of outlandish statements recently that I think would cause anyone to question, but I would give us cause to pause and try the spirit by the word of God.
Unlike most of us Kanye’s change is under the microscope of the world and the church. When I got saved I didn’t have the eyes of the world and social media on me. I was able to make mistakes and grow without the criticism of the world. While family and friends questioned my change. After time they were able to see the change was real.
Remember God is faithful. I think one of the aspects of that that we overlook is the fact that faithfulness is not a quick thing. God is faithful because throughout time and eternity He has remained consistent. God calls us as disciples to remain consistent. God is patient, kind and gives us grace so that we can take time to grow.
Think about it. In the Bible 2 of the things we are likened to are sheep and trees. Sheep need to be guided and trees take time to grow. Whether it’s Kanye or the guy down the street we as Christians need to be patient with others as they grow in God. Let them mess up and make mistakes the same way you did and continue to love them through it. Show them at least an inkling of the grace that God has shown to you.
Let God’s faithfulness run its course. Remember they are not in their final form. God is not through with them yet. As we come across others let us not be quick to be critical or judgmental; but let us inspect where we can shine the light of truth to see where we can be help to get them closer to God. Not push them away. We are ambassadors and called to the ministry of reconciliation. Let’s not segregate, but aid in God sanctifying them.
