“Fight the good fight for the true faith. Hold tightly to the eternal life to which God has called you, which you have declared so well before many witnesses.”
1 Timothy 6:12 NLT
1 Timothy 6:12 NLT
Sometimes we feel like we’re all alone. No one understands or can empathize with what we are going through. That is not true. God wouldn’t leave us hanging like that. There are other people that God will bring across our way not just to mope about what we’re going through, but to encourage and motivate us to fight through it.
A Christian life is not a worry free life. It’s full of all kinds of trials, persecutions and horrible circumstances. It’s the faith we have that can get us through. Some put a negative spin on it and call our faith a crutch. I’ll agree and say that it is. Sometimes life hits you and leaves you limping. You can’t walk on your own strength.
God by His might power builds us up on the inside to endure the fight. My pastor has a saying, “If you don’t quit you will win.” It’s become a fighting chant in my head and in my heart. Some situations or people may come that you have to let go of or cut loose, but that doesn’t mean you’ve quit trying to live the life God has called you to live.
Sometimes God will speak directly to you and other times He may send a person to encourage you, but at the end of the day it’s not the situation that’s the problem. The key is how you think about it. God comes in our hearts and makes alive. Then we have the work of renewing our mind. We are transformed by how we think about what we see.
“So humble yourselves under the mighty power of God, and at the right time he will lift you up in honor. Give all your worries and cares to God, for he cares about you. Stay alert! Watch out for your great enemy, the devil. He prowls around like a roaring lion, looking for someone to devour. Stand firm against him, and be strong in your faith. Remember that your family of believers all over the world is going through the same kind of suffering you are.”
1 Peter 5:6-9 NLT
1 Peter 5:6-9 NLT
God wants our thoughts to be like His. The devil can’t make us do anything, but he presents and tries to persuade us to do what is not pleasing to God. God wants our hearts and minds. We have to work daily to shape who we are on the inside to be more like Christ. God is fighting for you. Let Him in and let Him win.
