“Let no one despise your youth, but set the believers an example in speech and conduct, in love, in faith, in purity.”
We just celebrated Martin Luther King Jr.’s birthday. Every year we constantly hear about the historic “I Have A Dream” speech. Dr. King had a dream from God that he did not get to see come to fruition due to his assassination. His time was cut short. He didn’t know how much time he had, but the time he was here he used it to be effective. That speaks volumes even to this day.
We should be effective with the time that we have, because we don’t know how much time we have. 30 days, 30 years or 95 years. The time we’re given to be here the Lord does not tell us. He just gives us our callings and looks for us to fulfill it while we’re here. How much time you have doesn’t matter. It’s what you do with it.
It’s like the parable Jesus told about the men with the talents. One had 5, one had 2 and one man had one. It didn’t matter how many talents you had. It mattered what you did with it. Did you take what you had and use it to the best of your ability? Did you make an impact with what you had?
“Watever you give is acceptable if you give it eagerly. And give according to what you have, not what you don’t have.”
2 Corinthians 8:12 NLT
The Lord is not going to require something of you that you don’t have. If he didn’t give you the talent to sing then He’s not looking for you to cut an album. If you’re not handy He’s not looking for you to be a plumber or an architect. Maybe you’re good with numbers, or you’re athletic or you have access to resources that most people don’t. It’s not what you don’t have, but what you do have.
When it comes to Christ God says He has given every man the measure of faith. Every human being has enough to put his faith in Christ. Now God has given you abilities to us for His glory. Now matter how much time you have don’t waste it. Play the point guard and push the pace. Get the ball up the court so you can score while you can. Use the time you have wisely and to help move the plan of God forward.
That leads us to our Throwback Theology Song of the Week. We’re hitting up the east coast for a member of the legendary Cross Movement. It’s the Phanatik. This is from his 2005 release entitled “The Incredible Walk”. The featured track is called “Shot Clock (Brand New Day)”. Tune into the Trackstarz show this week to hear DJ Jeremaya spin this for the Throwback Theology Song of the Day. Until next time…
Peace and blessings,
