“I am praying not only for these disciples but also for all who will ever believe in me through their message. I pray that they will all be one, just as you and I are one—as you are in me, Father, and I am in you. And may they be in us so that the world will believe you sent me. “I have given them the glory you gave me, so they may be one as we are one. I am in them and you are in me. May they experience such perfect unity that the world will know that you sent me and that you love them as much as you love me.”
John 17:20-23 NLT

It’s a crazy time in our society. It has really been more critical now then I can ever remember in my lifetime for us to come together in unity. Inside and outside of the church. This is a climate that makes our petty arguments inside of the body of Christ so meaningless. Christian rapper or rapper that’s Christian. Whatever. How about make sure you’re a Christian. That you have Jesus Christ living on the inside of you by His Spirit. Everyone needs that. Not having Christ on the inside has a bigger punishment than a certain portion of the church won’t buy your albums. Let’s get folks saved and let God decide how they make dope music that is not contrary to the gospel. Amen.
I like how the homie Jered Sanders put. He said, “it’s all semantics really.” I think I agree with him, but I bring this up to point out how there’s just a constant division between us as people. I mentioned this in last week’s article that God has given us the ministry of reconciliation. All of this division has the ultimate goal to separate us. God has called us to be one and to be unified by the Holy Spirit in the bond of peace. We can agree to disagree and just come together for the common good.
Sometimes we need the bad to help us see the big picture to bring us together for a greater purpose. Last week President Trump made some very strong comments about players in the NFL kneeling for the National Anthem. This is a perfect time to address the reason why they are kneeling. Instead of using his platform to bring us together, he chose to attack those who did something he didn’t agree with. While I didn’t appreciate his comments, I did appreciate the results. Players, coaches and owners coming together and either kneeling together, standing together or not coming on the field TOGETHER.
Regardless of whether or not you agree with what they are doing or why they’re doing it, the sight of these men coming together in unity was a beautiful site to see. This is what God has called us to in the church. Jesus prayed in John 17 that we all would be in the body of Christ as He and the Father are one. People will know that we are Christians not by how much money we give, how much we sing on the choir or even give to the poor. They will know we are Christians by the love we have for each other. When they see the love we have for one another it will draw them to the source of our love, Jesus Christ. This is POWER MOVE.
That leads us to our Throwback Song of the Week. It is from a group called Brainwash Projects. The duo was also members of the group LA Symphony. The duo features Pigeon John and BTwice. The track is called “Power Moves” and is from the duos only release “The Rise & Fall of Brainwash Projects.” A fitting title being that it was the duos only album. It was released in 1998. They would release more music with their other group LA Symphony. Pigeon John would also drop some solo projects. He is also currently in a group called Rootbeer. They have an album out now entitled “Gold” that you might want to check out. In the meantime, check out the song below and let us know what you think. Until next time…
Peace and blessings.
