Album Review: The Journey II: The Climb
When I sat down to listen to The Journey II: The Climb, I knew I wasn’t just stepping into another album—I was stepping into a testimony. From start to finish, this project felt like more than music; it felt like I was walking alongside the artist through every challenge, every victory, and every moment of faith that defines what it really means to pursue purpose.
The intro, “The Journey Continues” featuring Joshua Fequiere, set the perfect tone. Right away, I could tell this wasn’t about looking back—it was about pressing forward. It reminded me that once you’ve answered your calling, the real work begins. That theme carries throughout the album, and I found myself reflecting on my own journey while listening.
One track that really stuck with me was “Never Lettin’ Go” featuring Crusif. The raw passion in this song hit home—it’s an anthem for anyone who’s ever had to cling to faith when life gets heavy. I could feel the conviction behind every word, and it reminded me that perseverance isn’t passive; it’s a daily choice.
“Feeling Like David” had me nodding my head from the first beat. It’s bold, fearless, and captures that underdog spirit perfectly. We all face giants in life, and this track felt like a battle cry—a reminder that with God on your side, no obstacle is too big.
Another standout for me was “By His Blood” with Chiwaz, Nikko Merc, and NotTheSameJJ. This collaboration brought so much depth to the album. It’s a powerful declaration of grace, and it really emphasized that no matter how steep the climb gets, it’s only by His blood that we overcome. The chemistry between the artists on this track made it one of my favorites.
Midway through, “The Climb (Interlude)” gave me a moment to pause and process everything I’d heard so far. It’s reflective and honest—one of those tracks that pulls you into the mindset of what it really feels like to push through when the weight of purpose starts to feel heavy.
I have to mention “The Goat” featuring Ocho Sneak—this one brought a different energy. It’s confident, playful, but still grounded in purpose. It was refreshing to hear that balance of humility and boldness, celebrating the wins without losing sight of Who gave the victory.
“Eating Crow” featuring Razzie and Nachaash brought a layer of humility that I really appreciated. It’s not often you hear artists be that transparent about owning past mistakes and growing from them. That honesty made the climb feel even more relatable.
As the album moved toward its close, “Harvest Bound” with Amber Roper felt like a breath of fresh air—hopeful and uplifting. It’s that reminder that all the hard work, all the faith, and all the waiting isn’t in vain. And when “A Prayer Away” featuring Sueann Fequiere came on, it sealed the message of the album beautifully—no matter how far you’ve come or how far you have to go, God is always close.
Listening to The Journey II: The Climb felt personal—not just for the artist, but for me as a listener. It’s rare to hear a project that’s this transparent, this purpose-driven, and still sonically engaging from start to finish. Every track told a story, and by the end, I felt encouraged to keep climbing my own mountain.
If you’re looking for music that motivates you, challenges you, and reminds you why faith and perseverance matter, this album is it. The Journey II: The Climb isn’t just a project—it’s an experience. And I’m glad I took the time to listen.
