I recently sat down with Darious Thomas for another installment of the “Independent Artist Spotlight. In our full-length interview, Darious and I discussed his new single “Not for Sale,” his journey to becoming a Christian rapper, his work as a street evangelist in Detroit, and his take on the end times!
I listened to Darious’ entire album “Walking With Christ”. I loved the entire cut from start to finish. “Not for Sale” was the song he submitted to be reviewed. I particularly happy with the selection he chose. I love catchy hooks, strong bars, and good story-telling. “Not for Sale” gives you all theses.
When Darious told me that one of his biggest influences was Kendrick Lamar, I wasn’t surprised. When you listen to Darious, you get a Kendrick Lamar feel. I personally would rather listen to Darious over Kendrick Lamar. No only is Darious’ content better, but his voice also serves as instrument to his beat and I’ve always loved that in an artist. Most who know me know that I’ve never liked Kendrick’s voice so I don’t listen to any of his music. Being honest, I think Darious is even a better artist than Kendrick.
This particular beat to me, sounds very eclectic. I love the instrumentation. I can only imagine how good the song would sound live and with the piano keys in perfect tune! Man, what a banger!
I love the heart behind the song too. Darious’ reminds that the truth is never for sale. We have to give people the truth no matter the cost. I would encourage you to list to Darious for yourself and I hope you to decide to add “Not for Sale” to your playlist.
“Not for Sale” is available on streaming platforms or wherever digital music is sold. His EP “Walking With Christ” is available for purchase on Bandcamp.
