Armond Wakeup and Taelor Gray continue to put their foot on the gas as they promote their latest project ‘Black Jordans & White Socks 2.’ Present day Christianity is finding many people reassessing what they’ve been taught about their faith and religion. Many are deconstructing and unraveling publicly while many do it behind closed doors. Armond chooses to let the listener in on his process with his verse on the song “Black Scofield.” While Taelor Gray talks about the Bible, how much he loves it, how his reading of the scriptures has changed, Wakeup heads in the opposite direction on his verse.
One of the standout lines from Armond’s verse is, “I wish I had a therapist at the altar. Who could help me process everything I was offered.” He talked about how he was presented with a heavy handed presentation of the Gospel, which may mirror many of our salvation experiences. While deconstruction for some has led them away from the faith entirely, Armond is still here, he’s just doing the work of untangling things from the true faith that should never have been there. In Wakeup’s own words, “Praying for everyone on their ‘deconstruction’ journey. I hope you find God in every step you take.”
