Thursday, October 21, marked the fifth anniversary of Sho Baraka’s album ‘The Narrative.’ To celebrate, Sho Baraka had a livestream YouTube event that ran from 7PM-9PM. During this stream, Sho talked about the making of the album and he brought in folks virtually and in person to discuss the project and it’s impact. One of the first people Sho brought in was Thomas Terry AKA Odd Thomas. They talked about Sho coming to Humble Beast just to release this project and the work that went on behind the scenes. Sho also brought in collaborators like Jamie Portier and Nate The Beatbreaker, who were instrumental in producing the music for the album.
Much later in the stream, Sho opened up the lines and let a few fans and supporters jump into the stream to give their thoughts on the album and ask questions, and I was fortunate enough to be in that number! For those that don’t know, Sho Baraka is my number one artist, my absolute favorite artist, and it was a pleasure to talk to him and let him know the influence he’s had on my life. I come in around the hour and a half mark and got to talk to Nate and Sho. The two also debuted part of a new song that will be on Nate’s upcoming album, so make sure you listen for that.
Five years later and arguably Sho’s best album to date is still standing the test of time. What do you think of ‘The Narrative’ and what are your favorite songs from the project?
