A lot of music is being dropped to give people hope, but Dee-1 decided to give us the gift of laughter with his latest song “Corona Clap.” It’s no accident that Dee-1 spit his quarantine cautioning lyrics over this particular instrumental. This same instrumental was re-purposed by Yasiin Bey FKA Mos Def called “Katrina Klap/Dollar Day” shortly after Hurricane Katrina devastated Louisiana. The original song was called “Nolia Clap” and was released in 2004. Dee-1, being a New Orleans native himself, probably new all that and dropped this song about being safe during this pandemic while simultaneously paying homage to his roots.
