“Faith shows the reality of what we hope for; it is the evidence of things we cannot see. Through their faith, the people in days of old earned a good reputation. By faith we understand that the entire universe was formed at God’s command, that what we now see did not come from anything that can be seen. It was by faith that Abel brought a more acceptable offering to God than Cain did. Abel’s offering gave evidence that he was a righteous man, and God showed his approval of his gifts. Although Abel is long dead, he still speaks to us by his example of faith. It was by faith that Enoch was taken up to heaven without dying—“he disappeared, because God took him.” For before he was taken up, he was known as a person who pleased God. And it is impossible to please God without faith. Anyone who wants to come to him must believe that God exists and that he rewards those who sincerely seek him.”
Hebrews 11:1-6 NLT
I guess now we have officially come out of what they call “cuffing season”. I hear it starts around Thanksgiving or Christmas and goes through Valentine’s Day. You were either validated as the main thing on V-Day or solidified as a side piece with a celebration on either February 13th or February 15th. At least that’s what the world says about this topic.
As Christians we live by a higher standard. We are seeking true and genuine relationships. Not just someone to lay up with temporarily. As people overall we all look for companionship. You can find that in a romantic relationship or in a strong friendship. The point is that we all look to feel apart of something and connected to people. Nothing wrong with that. Just as long as we don’t find our identity and purpose in that alone.
Ultimately, our identity and purpose is found in Christ. Deep in our hearts we feel that calling and longing to be more. We struggle and strive to fulfill that longing on the inside. The problem is we go to things that can’t fulfill us to fill that God shaped hole on the inside. Some search in people, money, cars or drugs. There you only find a temporary fix for the void on the inside.
Whatever you are gifted or talented to do is a part of it, but it’s ultimately a tool to give glory to Christ. It’s to be used to the fullest, given back to God and laid at His feet. You can sing, play an instrument, sport or be a mechanic. Whatever platform you gain is to be used to fulfill your purpose in God.
You go to God so He can direct you on how to point that gift back to Him. As you seek Him He rewards you. Not just giving you stuff that we call blessings to consume on yourself here on earth, but to gain the real reward of Christ. He will spend eternity rewarding us with kindness for our faithful service to Him. Search for God and He will reward you by revealing Himself to you. The real reward.
That leads us to our Throwback Theology Song of the Week. This is from a pioneer in CHH from the west coast. The one and only T-Bone. This is from his 2005 release entitled “Bone-A-Fide”. The featured track is called “I Been Looking Around”. Tune into the Trackstarz show to hear DJ Jeremaya spin this for the Throwback Theology Song of the Day. Until next time…
Peace and blessings,
