What’s going on everyone!! So, this post will be long, so forgive me. There is a topic that needs to be addressed, especially in the Christian community, and that topic is homosexuality. I really hope we all, myself included, grasp the importance of how to actually be a Christian, instead of just claiming the title and living like we haven’t been saved ourselves.
Dear “Christians”,
STOP USING SCRIPTURES TO SHOW HATE TOWARDS HOMOSEXUAL PEOPLE. That is not our place to hate OR to judge. Our lives are called to compassion and to show people the light of Jesus, not to judge others because they sin differently than you. Yes, Scripture does say that, “And the men, instead of having normal sexual relations with women, burned with lust for each other. Men did shameful things with other men, and as a result of this sin, they suffered the penalty the deserved” (Romans 1:27). And yes, it even also says, “Don’t you realize that those who do wrong will not inherit the Kingdom of God? Don’t fool yourselves. Those who indulge in sexual sin, or who worship idols, or commit adultery, or are male prostitutes, or practice homosexuality, or are thieves, or greedy people, or drunkards, or are abusive, or cheat people—none of these will inherit the Kingdom of God” (1 Corinthians 6:9-10).
My point is that even though these things are in the Bible, it DOES NOT give us a pass or reason to bash someone. If you really look at the second Scripture, it also says names committing adultery, people that get drunk all the time, liars, cheaters, and being abusive. Let me ask a question: How many of us have done one of those or have sinned at some point. ANSWER: WE ALL HAVE!!! So what gives us the ability to shame someone else, when we ourselves were one decision from hell?? Sin makes us dead. But thank God for Jesus graciously dying on the cross or our sins. The reason we were saved is not so that we can condemn others, but rather point them to the reason we were saved.
So, to those people that use scriptures against homosexual people let me say this: ”
“Do not judge others, and you will not be judged. For you will be treated as you treat others. The standard you use in judging is the standard by which you will be judged. And why worry about a speck in your friend’s eye when you have a log in your own? How can you think of saying to your friend, ‘Let me help you get rid of that speck in your eye,’ when you can’t see past the log in your own eye? Hypocrite! First get rid of the log in your own eye; then you will see well enough to deal with the speck in your friend’s eye” (Matthew 7:1-5). Essentially, if you judge others, you’re going to be judged. Don’t be that person that condemns others for their sin, when you sin yourself. Instead, actually live like Christ and be forgiving, not condemning. I am tired of hearing people talk about Christians, saying “they used scripture to promote their hate of my lifestyle” WHO ARE WE TO JUDGE?? There is a major difference in loving the person and not the sin, and judging someone. We aren’t perfect so we can’t judge them. We are only called to point them to Jesus, the only perfect person with perfect love.
I hope this rattles some cages and really holds us accountable for our actions and what we are saying. Just because people have differences, doesn’t mean we can judge others for having a different option and perspective. Let us all continually let Jesus work on us, and be more compassionate, yet holding each other accountable in love.
Much Love,
Ryan W.
