What is going on everyone!! To be honest, it feels like it has been a while since I have written a post. So much has happened in my life, and the main theme is that God is showing me how to have confidence and power in the unknowns that life throws our way. We all have goals and dreams for our lives and futures. Sometimes though, life takes crazy turns and can throw off our groove. I just want to encourage us all that even when we feel off our groove and normalities, we have power from God above to guide us through the fog
Now, I want to expand on the previous sentence. When I think about the unknowns of life, a picture of a ship sailing through a foggy river comes to mind. As the ship progresses through that fog on the way to its destination, the captain doesn’t know what is ahead of him. He has to trust his training and inner gut to help guide him. Same as with us. When we go through difficult circumstances that block our view or that entangle us, we need to lean on the power of Christ that is inside of us to bring us through that fog. As we constantly sail through the mist, God will guide us to still waters and green pastures (Psalm 23:2). How comforting is it to know that our Captain knows what He is doing and where He is taking us, even when we are going through the midst of creepy waters.
I am also reminded of the song Oceans. “You call me out upon the waters, the great unknown where feet may fail.” This is so strong to me. When we walk in water, our feet bring us a confidence that we won’t fall into the water and be swallowed up in the waves. With Jesus, He wants us to into the depths of the sea where our feet will fail so that we will trust Him through the unknown. That we would lean on Him when we can’t see so that we will give Him glory when we reach our destination. I don’t know about you all, but that lights me up inside. The whole point of the unknown is for us to depend on God and to lean not on our own understanding (Proverbs 3:5-6).
Through the mist, our eyes are stayed on Jesus our Captain. That is where our peace is through the storms. We can also think about the unknown through the eyes of the captain. Similar to the captain, we do our best with our gifts to navigate through trials and adversity (storms and murky waters) to our destination. That destination is Jesus, ultimately. When we go through the sunny oceans and the path is clear, that is where and when we build our strength for when the storms come. I encourage us all; trust your foundation. If Jesus is your foundation, He will never lead you into storms for no reason. Just be patient and stay the course. Don’t just abandon ship at the sight and sounds of the storms.
“Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, yes, I will help you, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand” (Isaiah 41:10). This is my absolute favorite verse because it literally applies to every storm that could hit us. My other challenge is to get a crew of people that also share the foundation truth of God’s love to help propel the ship through the mist of the unknown. Dig in deep with those people and gain trust that they won’t abandon ship at the first sight on turbulence.
Be brave during this sail through life. Instead of looking at the fog with fear, see the fog and mist as a chance to showcase the Mighty Hand of God working through us. Trouble in life will come, but we can come out of that trouble in tact and more than over-comers.
Much Love,
Ryan W.
