What is going on everyone!! Just to be real and vulnerable with you all, this week was really hard in the aspect of finding the topic that I wanted to write about. Thank God for His Divine inspiration. This week, I want to dig into the topic of living life from our knees. I know this may seem like a weird topic, but let me take us on a journey of surrender.
We live in a world of such comparison. Social media, although a great tool, has us always searching for validation and purpose for our lives. Because of this, we doll ourselves up, and add crazy filters to showcase the highlights of our day to the world. We feel like we have to keep up with the over 7 billion people in the world. I don’t know about you, but that is a lot of pressure. As a writer and communicator, it’s hard to not compare myself to others, wondering how can I be as influential as them or how can I mold my personality to be like someone else’s to gain attention. When we get sucked into that mindset, we innately begin to work in our own power to make moves. We try to become the god of our lives, also known as possessing the savior complex. We have to learn that in order to live the life God has for us, we must seek help from our Divine Helper, our Prince of Peace.
“I lift up my eyes to the hills; where does my help come from? My help comes from the Lord. the Maker of Heaven and Earth” (Psalm 121:1-2). This scripture inspired me to write this article. We get so caught up in trying to make everything perfect and right in our eyes, but God sees so much higher than we do. He sees what we really need and His plans for us are so amazing, we can’t even comprehend how good they are. We need to condition ourselves, that even before we try to maneuver things in our lives, we get down on our knees, as a sign of surrender, and seek God for our help. Our source of strength is only found through Christ. We need to recognize that it is not us who lives and succeeds, but rather it is Christ who lives in us that gives us the grace and power to maneuver through this life (Galatians 2:20). When we really grab hold of living from our knees, we will understand that we have freedom from the pressure of playing chess with our lives; that we do not have to make moves on our own.
I remember reading this quote that says, “A man that can kneel before God will be able to stand before any person”. That is so strong because that quote acknowledges that our confidence comes from a surrender to God, and not a need of acceptance from man. I am a firm believer that spending time on our knees gives us wisdom and clarity from God for our lives. It says, “God I surrender my knowledge to You and I need You to give me strength”. Quiet time in the presence of our Savior is the best way to start the day. Keep that in mind as you go throughout your days, and do not be afraid to live from your knees.
Much Love,
Ryan W.
