“Bearded Lies” is based around a barbershop theme in artwork, and the songs on the talk that happens in the chair. For many, barbershop talk was a place of growth. Wisdom being passed down from the older generation to the younger, with light-hearted banter in-between.
The name behind Bearded Lies comes from wordplay around the EP concept. “Bearded”, is not only amassed facial hair but also means “to confront boldly.” Russell felt there were truths that needed to be exposed, uncover lies that we are presented within society, and lies we tell ourselves.
“I want to confront the lies we are presented within this world, take the mask off, regain innocence, know the He is so good, He’s got this, not be so critical, recognize a need, inspire change, and tell these lies I’m “Tired of You.” – Russell Sickler
