Queue the infamous song from Frozen…. Let it go!!! Letting go and moving on sometimes is the best medicine to cure negative situations in our lives. It can be so difficult to let go especially of what seems to be normal to us. Sometimes, when we let go of something, it could be a way of God cutting off dead weight so that we can grow and receive the best that He has for us.
Fear has a lot to do with letting go of things in our lives. We fear that if we let something or someone go, that we will end up alone, and that we won’t completely heal without that thing we lost. I also believe that we fear the unknown, in that we don’t know what the future looks like. That is totally normal, but we also need to really press into God and let Him give us strength to heal and to fully let go of those things and relationships that are killing us deep down.
So a big question is, how do we let go? How do we let go so that we can heal? Well it is a deep rooted issue and it is a more simple yet effective answer. That is to focus on positive thoughts. To do something that makes us happy, and to really press into God and seeing His heart for the reason for the pain. I am a firm believer that in times of hurt and when we need to let go, God is opening His arms even wider to us, letting us know that we can fall on Him. That we can trust Him to grow us by cutting off the dead weight. Hebrews 12:1 tells us that, Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a huge crowd of witnesses to the life of faith, let us strip off every weight that slows us down, especially the sin that so easily trips us up. And let us run with endurance the race God has set before us. This is so key because it gives us perspective that sometimes it is necessary to let go of the things that bring us down, and to focus on the things that encourage us and that build us up.
I think that when we do this, focusing on the growth and letting go of dead weight, we can really gain perspective that God genuinely desires for us to live a life that is truly free from the things that entangle us. It can be so easy because of familiarity, but we need to dare to step out in faith and to let go when needed, that we may truly experience the fullness of God’s promises. We can do this!! We can let go!! S0 LET IT GO AND LET GOD!!!
Much love,
