I was at Starbucks with a friend last week and my eyes became locked into the people who produced the great chatter around me. Everyone was unique in their own way. I mean, I knew this already but for some reason, my attention was deeply captures by everyone’s uniqueness. Different personalities, backgrounds and complexions filled the cafe; radiating the hints of orange and red tones that popped from their skin. I couldn’t help but study the unique faces around me.
May I encourage you, my friend to stop. To get outside of the busyness of “you”-out of all your worries, concerns, deadlines and “have to’s” and slow down. To gaze upon the small yet special beauties of our world.
When is the last time you gazed your pretty little eyes upon our glowing moon? Stop and study it. Is it a half, a full, or a crescent? What color is it? Eggshell? Ivory? How much do you think it weighs?
Pause and ponder this: Your God, holds the moon in His hands. He created a humongous ball of light-a ball that changes shape depending on where it is in orbit (the moon orbits around the earth, while spinning: Science 101 for ya). I wish I can put my wonder into words! I’m in such awe that God placed such a gem in the sky. Our universe and its people are individualistic pieces of God’s art. Absorb the awe. The awe that the moon hasn’t dropped on our heads nor has pieces of it fallen into our planet! The awe that the earth hasn’t crashed into the sun nor has our planet burned up to a crisp from the heat.
Take a moment to adjust your eyes into the gems we so easily pass by. You’ll be surprised how your days will start to be filled with sweet bursts of God-given joy.
