I don’t know if anyone remembers last years huge ordeal with Starbucks and the “war on Christmas,” but it was all over the news. In case you don’t remember, last year Starbucks released plain red cups around Christmas time. As a result, many Christians made huge noise about it on social media. The well-known Joshua Feuerstein made a video in regards to it. He told Christians through a video posted online to go to Starbucks, order a beverage, and tell the cashier that their name is Merry Christmas. Some did this, but other just ridiculed him and told him that there were bigger things to worry about rather than a cup situation at a non-Christian supportive business. As a result, I actually wrote my very first article explaining the best way to fight back as Christians.
This past week, Starbucks released their new holiday cups and they are covered in holiday related items. These includes snow flakes, Christmas trees, and other items associated with Christmas. Is this the end of their “war on Christmas?” Starbucks explained that in previous years customers have been taking their white cups and decorating them at Christmas time to share their passions in the winter season. Starbucks decided to hold a contest to allow for those with creative juices to share their artistic ability with the world. There are 13 different designs for the 25,000 stores in over 75 countries. There were over 1200 submissions to be considered. All the contest winners were women this first year. Most of the winner were from the United States. You can view all the different designs here.
Just remember, as the Christmas holiday is approaching, to not let the decisions of secular business keep you upset. We live in a multicultural country where people have different ideals and kinds of holidays that they celebrate. If you don’t like the way a certain store celebrates or doesn’t celebrate Christmas, don’t give them your business. Let your voice be heard by where you spend your dollars.
Thanks and God Bless
