Original. This is a word that everyone wants to be or claim to know so much about. This word is also sacred within hip hop. But what do you get when you define that word dealing with God and using the analogy of food (organic at that)? You get Applejaxx’s “Original” video.
If you take this video for face value you think that you’re getting a whole foods campaign rap video, but this song is so much more than you think. Applejaxx is braking down the “fake” and “processed” things that we allow in our bodies/temples over the original “fruit” of God. Halfway through the video, we get Applejaxx having a small group fellowship with a few of his brothers (Juma, M.A.K., Lenz and Chris Theodat).
What I love about this video is the original concept. I like the metaphor of God and the word of God being organic food for us. I also enjoy how we get somewhat of a message/sermon in the middle of the video. The video also shows how African American Christians can break the stereotype of being uneducated and thugs. At the end of the video, we learn to be original, organic and live fresh. Spread The Soup!
