Romans 12:9– “Let love be dissimulation. Abhor that which is evil; cleave to which is good”
This is a great verse to help us strengthen relationships with those around us that we have hard times dealing with. The word “dissimulation” means ” to disguise or conceal under a false appearance.” When we break down this verse, we are learning to not fake our love towards people. We live in times where people being fake is a real daily reality for many people. It takes more work to fake loving someone than to actually take the time to learn to like someone. This is where the second part of the verse comes in. We should abhor (or hate) what is evil and focus on what is good. We should always strive to see the best and good in people. If we take time to understand that God created and loves that person, it should be easier for us to love them as well.
This is an excellent verse not only to help your relationships, but to also help witness to those around you. When we hear and see people doing things that aren’t Christ like, we can begin to judge them and not want to show them how to live a more righteous life. If we don’t listen to this verse, we could be indirectly leading people away from the word of God. So, going forward, don’t discriminate and dissimulate love. Spread The Soup!
