Diss tracks are an essential part to hip hop music. Many careers were created or crushed from diss tracks. When it comes to CHH, Diss records are frowned upon (unless you’re dissing the devil). We have seen different denominations, camps and labels subliminally dissing each other and the CHH culture still argue about keeping the confusion down. There was one diss that was somewhat very unique that changed the game up. It was from Dre Murray with “LOL Nevermind.”
What drew me into this song, other than the production of Wit, was the way Dre used a “fight fire with water” attack on this track. He actually spoke blessings over the artist that he was dissing. Also, he didn’t even mention his/her (even though I’m positive it was a him). This really showed the character of Dre and this track actually certified me as a fan of his.
Overall, this will go down as one of my favorite diss tracks of all time. The way it speaks more on Dre’s own flaws and how he shows grace towards the “victim,” is such a great example of being Christ like. This was the first track that brought attention to the “Same team” concept for CHH artists. If more Christians could have more love and pray for their enemies more than… LOL nevermind.
